"The Story of Cap & Trade is a fast-paced, fact-filled look at the leading climate solution being discussed at Copenhagen and on Capitol Hill. Host Annie Leonard introduces the energy traders and Wall Street financiers at the heart of this scheme and reveals the "devils in the details" in current cap and trade proposals: free permits to big polluters, fake offsets and distraction from whats really required to tackle the climate crisis. If youve heard about Cap & Trade, but arent sure how it works (or who benefits), this is the film is for you."
Larry, your blog sucks, I can't get anywhere, I can't read anything at all, lot's of blanks. By the way thank god Harper didn't sign anything in Copenhagen, had he bought into Cap & Trade it would have ruined our economy, the NDP knows this and so should you it would cost the SFL members many jobs. Did I say your blog sucks
ReplyDeleteErin F,
ReplyDeleteThank you for participating in this blog. I am not certain why you would be having problems navigating this blog. You are the first person who has raised any technical problems in the 2 years that this blog has been up and running.
Perhaps your browser is not configured in a way that allows you to access all of the features of this blog.
Also, the video you seem to be raising concerns about (i.e. your comments about this particular posting) is opposed to Cap & Trade, so I'm not sure what your point is.
If you can tell me specifically which areas of the blog you are unable to access, maybe I can help you to resolve your issues.
Thanks again for participating.
I apologize, I was able to open the video from home PC, I agree with the idea that Cap & trade is the wrong approach however the video forges ahead with the premise that CO2 is a pollutant as decided by the US EPA, ignoring the fact the science this is based on is flawed at best and at worst has been grossly manipulated to further the green movement. I still can’t tell what side you fall on do you feel that we should press on with all the green movement hysteria that chooses to ignore real science and even refuses to debate it. Or do you believe as I do that we should ( nobody disagrees that less air pollution is better ) take any tax / penalty from the emitters and pour it straight back into the technology to stop the pollution or reduce it. Example: take whatever money is collected in Saskatchewan and pour it into clean coal technology for Shand & Estevan power stations, thus #1 reducing pollution and #2 keeping the $$ and jobs in Saskatchewan. Finally we should do nothing until the USA, India & China start doing real pollution reduction, why should we race to economic ruin merely to set an example, that would be lunacy.
ReplyDeleteYour blog still sucks, under Harpers secret climate plan - revealed, there is nothing to read ??
Oh & I forgot to mention,I believe cap & trade is another Al Gore get rich quick scheme, that part of the video I agree with, Al Gore & his lot are nothing but pirates and hypocrates, not sure how the leftys & tree huggers cannot see this.
ReplyDeleteErin F,
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you were able to view the Cap and Trade video on your home computer.
Respecting your comment that the posting "Harpers secret climate plan - revealed" has nothing to read, you are correct. It's a video.
So where do you stand Larry ??
ReplyDeleteI personally believe that investing in Clean Coal technology is a wise investment. I support Canada having an independent strategy on pollution reduction, it should not be tied to what the USA, India or China does. We need to be global leaders, not followers in this area.
ReplyDeleteI don't accept the suggestion that greenhouse gas emissions, global warming, climate change, polar ice caps melting, glaciers rapidly receding, poisoning of our water, extinction of species, etc. is all simply "green movement hysteria".
The planet is being polluted and everyone can see it. Air pollution in major cities that will make your eyes burn, and have you wearing a surgical mask is not a good sign.
I don't buy the argument that cleaning up the mess we are making will lead to economic ruin. You can't eat, or breath money. I think it was Hugo Chavez who put it succinctly at Copenhagen. "If the environment was a bank, we would have fixed it (bailed it out) already."
Thanks for contributing to this blog, Erin.
Larry
I had to look up succinctly, when it comes to Hugo Chavez I would try and resist giving him any compliments the guy is certifiable.
ReplyDeleteGreen Hysteria is alive & well, look at the nuts protesting Canada at Copenhagen and ignoring China, India, USA you know why, we are an easy target, usually we are a pushover. Most of the green nuts out there that I have met, if you pin them down on a clearly false premise they get mad, defensive, stop debating and claim I don't care about the world and go smoke a dubee to mellow out. That is the definition of hysteria.
Nobody will disagree with stopping the nasty poison going into the air, lakes & oceans, agreed, but CO2 c'mon that is nothing more than a scam based on shaky unsubstantiated, manipulated science. CO2 is what makes plants grow, duhh. Plant a tree, carbon credits, if this goes ahead i will be investing in carbon credit traders and I will get rich.
And cleaning up the enviorment will kill SK & AB economies because the liberal left in the centre of the universe, TO and the rest of central Canada is determined to make us in the west pay for it, MARK MY WORDS. This is nothing but window dressing on wealth transfer, we have it, they want it.
Again I would be careful how much I would agree with a guy like Mr. Chavez if I were you, right away your going to be agreeing with Karl Marx, Mao or Lenin.
Erin,
ReplyDeleteVisions of the "Red Menace". I don't need to worry about being accused of agreeing with a bunch of dead guys.
Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.
Some of the best economic, social, and environmental policies in the world are coming out of certain Latin America countries right now. I'm not concerned in the least of being accused of supporting governments and leaders that put people before corporations.
I hope you are able to enjoy some time off with friends and family over the holiday season.
Larry
You as well
