I think any land owner would agree with how this fellow reacted... Picked on public property.

Are you drunk? These people are the reason he has a business! He should respect them, not toss them around!!!

It's really sad that this man thinks he can push people around like this.

The picketers are exercising their CHARTER RIGHT to strike.

It pains me to hear people call these picketers names like "low lifes". How can they even say that about people who are being brave and trying to stand up for theirs rights, the right to being treated with dignity and respect and the right to try to build a better life for themselves and their families.

These people work hard for what little money they make and do jobs that most the people making these derogatory comments wouldn't be caught dead doing.

There jobs are not glamorous but they still do them because they believe in hard work and honest employment.

Sad that Best Western owners and management know nothing about fairness and respect, job security and meaningful employment.

SHAME!!

Maybe a dose of unemployment for THEM might gain them some quick education.

The video of the incident is going to look really good on his job resume for future employment.

Good luck with that Sir! (I use that term loosely).

Do you know why they are striking I bet not if you don't know the facts keep your mouth shut. Bet you you didn't know that those peaceful picketers are verbally attacking people or that some of them are kids and elderly people or how about verbally attacking those who are still working and that need the hours.

My advice to you and everyone else that don't know the truth is keep you lips closed if you don't know the facts period.

do you have proof of any of this? because normally accusing someone of doing things like that means little without proof.

Amber Winder said...

Yes actually because I know that person that works there that they were doing it too

I own land, I completely disagree with you. This person/hotel owner is a criminal and ought to be charged with assult.

This guy is a goof and always has been, even when I worked there years ago he was a bully. I hope they charge him no matter what, he did not have the right to assault them, they are excercizing their right to strike, just because he is a large man with a huge gut does not give him the right to be a bully, someone should have put a helmet on this idiot when he was out playing as a youngster because his head is NOT right.
Good luck to all the union workers, stay strong brothers & sisters.

I have been to the hotel /Ricky's a number of times over last 3minths and feel quite threatened by the picketers as I come in and out. They have shouted abuse at me as I left once too. . If people don't want to work somewhere why not just find another job , there's 1000's of jobs . This kind of action is just bad for the customers, bad for the staff 90% of whom aren't on strike and bad for the owners. I was told by an employee that most of the people on the picket line aren't actual striking employees , but union members . So it is rather misleading .
Communication is the key to resolution., but honestly after looking at this video then the others posted by the hotel documenting abusive behaviour by the picketers - it seems communication has broken down and I for one wouldn't want to work in that environment after!!

Sara Wheelwright you obviously don't feel threatened so much by the picketers that it has curbed your appetite to cross their picket line repeatedly over the past three months. There are lots of other establishments in Regina that offer the same services as the Best Western 7 Oaks.

An easy way to alleviate your discomfort is to stop crossing the line and take your business elsewhere until the dispute resolve. If all patrons honoured the picket line the dispute would be over reall fast.

I have walked a picket line before and you are not to be on the property while you picket ya he didn't show respect by shoving but nor did the people picketing by going on the property

Why should people have to go somewhere else to get a service that they enjoy. People pickketting want respect maybe they should show some.

I feel sorry for the picketers. I've heard 90% off their coworkers have crossed the picket line because the employer has threatened to fire them and because they are new Canadians if they don't have a job they have to leave Canada. These employees are threatened and scared. Stay strong and together you will win. In solidarity Unifor local 649

i was there the first day of the strike and one of the picketers got arrested
for assaulting my car he didn't work at the hotel he was a scab brought in the issue for the strike is the union wants to come in whenever they want and have a meeting with staff its NOT wages or benefits i was told this by a staff member they were offered a board room for free for these meetings....
keep going to the establishment THE UNION IS WRONG

Dale W said...

Before you comment you should ACTUALLY talk to and hear it from someone who is still working while their union is NOT negotiating in good faith. If my union acted like this I would be ashamed.

i was there for lunch the first day of the strike my car was assaulted and i was prevented from leaving the parking lot the striker was arrested the next day keep it clean ppl they are not striking for wages or benefits they were giving increases dec 23 2015 they are striking so the union can come in whenever they want for meetings they were offered a free board room just need to give notice some ppl need to get a life

Excuse me Amber but I have a right to speak just as you do and your words "keep your mouth shut"are an example of you being a bully. I hope you do not work there too because I sure would not want to work with someone who talks to anyone like that.

I don't know what's going on??

I am the one posting to facebook and walking the line with employees.

Maybe it is you who knows not what they are talking about.

This is a COLLECTIVE BARGAINING issue which is also a CHARTERED RIGHT (do you know what that is?), to bargain and bargain FAIRLY AND IN GOOD FAITH (do you know what that means?).

The owner is obviously not honouring that, OR THEY WOULD NOT BE ON STRIKE.

As far as disrespect to persons crossing the line, YOU DON'T GAIN RESPECT IF YOU DON'T GIVE IT and crossing a picket line is showing DISRESPECT.

Anything else you need clarity on??

My ears are open.
