Federation of Labour working hard to bring sides to table

Leader-Post reporter Anne Kyle filed this linked article for publication in the Thursday, December 6, 2007 issue of the paper.

There is a second article reporting of the same matter on the CBC Web-site.

These articles refer to efforts being made by the Saskatchewan Federation of Labour to assist the parties to settle the dispute.

Larry,

How could you let this happen under your watch? This must be quite embarassing...

Did you not have the ability to stop this situation? You're not just a Paper Tiger, are you?

BTW, this example exactly portrays what has become of the union movement.

Cheers!

Dear Michael Couros (a.k.a mike the greek),

You should really stick to things you have some knowledge of, like insurance.

Dear Mr. Larry Hubich (a.k.a. Paper Tiger),

Aside your from disregard of standard netiquette (which does reflect in your blogging ability), you should have a thick enough skin to answer some of the questions tossed your way.

The questions are fair and people in the this province want to know what your stance on these issues are.

Is that too much to ask?

Larry,

Where are my manners?

Since you posted my profession (which might be seen by right wing kooks as a call to the unofficial union shock troops or an intention to intimidate, but I see it as you genuinely trying to promote my business), I think it was incumbent on me to ask you if you, yourself, were in need of any of my insurance services.

We both agree that I am knowledgable in my field.

I think we'd get on famously.

We have a lot in common; we both have moustaches, we're both happy the Sask Party is in power (maybe we better scratch that last one) ... and... well, that's all I can think of right now, but I'm sure there's more.

And you're actually in luck. I'm having my CrAZy MikE's Insurance Blowout until the end of December.

Also, ask me about my Union Boss specials!

So give me a call. I'd love to hear from you! Or should I call you when I'm in Regina next?

Mike "The Greek" Couros

You're welcome Mr. Couros.

And while I'm at it, let me see if I can help send some traffic to your blog.

Don't worry, unions only use shock troops in fairy tales.

Actually, I really don't have as much time as I'd like to blog, what with the economy booming and all...

I do recall a fairy tale in Edmonton where a lawyer got a metal bar across the head during some fairly emotional union negotiations a few years back, ambused at his home. Gainers strike if I recall correctly. Almost died... He was representing management, much to my surprise. Must have been one of those odd coincidences.

So... how about that insurance?

It's no wonder you have no time to blog, you're spending all of your time on my site.

Your story reminds me of a more recent one, where management representatives were found guilty of running the Union negotiator off the road in their vehicles and threatening to kill him.

That was at Lakeside Packers in Brooks, Alberta - just a couple of years ago. Those slaughter houses are tough places apparently.

My insurance needs are adequately taken care of, thanks.

Need to head for work now. I have a busy day ahead.

I'm spending time here because I love to learn. Gain more of that there knowledge.

I suspect you have a busy few months ahead.

Good luck...
